Changes in Version 4.3                                                 (10 Sep 2012)

TopManager

  • Several screens modified to be able to cope with higher screen resolutions used in Windows 7 e.g 120 dpi (dots per inch) rather than the usual 96 dpi.
Note: only been tested to 120 dpi
  • Add new mechanism to handle the relocation of channels to different LCNs (see below).
  • Adjust size of displayed signatures (in "Update Forum Profile") to avoid scrollbars (where possible).
  • Allow MyStuff backup files to be displayed e.g. MyStuff_Searches.dat.201208211030 (this only works for MyStuff text files)
  • In "PcControl| Channel Management", do not allow user to leave screen if the ChannelOrganiserDeletes.txt does not reflect the displayed items (user needs to press "Delete Selected Channels" or "Remember Channel Lineup" buttons)
Note: The PcControl tap has not changed ( version B1)

Relocation of channels to different LCNs

The new mechanism will :-
  • remember channel information in \ProgramFiles\Settings\TM_SvcIdMap.txt
  • handle channel shuffles (even when the Freeview.dat file is not up to date)
  • not be affected when Freeview.dat is replaced
  • handle channel shuffles as a result of a scan by TopManager or by a different means e.g. native, FastScanGUI or ChannelOrganiser.
  • Update favourite files etc with the replacement channel e.g. when Food Network moves channel to 48, it will automatically adjust a 49 to 48 (V4.2 would have deleted the reference to 49).
  • Use comments (if they exist) in a favourites file to aid determining whether a shuffled channel should be deleted.
Note: both TM and ChannelOrganiser add these comments when they update these files.
  • Use comments (if they exist) in ChannelOrganiserDeletes.txt to aid determining whether a shuffled channel should be deleted.
Note: Currently, only TopManager stores comments in this file (a future version of ChannelOrganiser is likely to add these comments).
  • If necessary, TM_SvcIdMap.txt can be deleted (TopManager will automatically rebuild it when it next requests a channel lineup from the PcControl tap).
Note: If deleting this file, it would be a good idea to ensure that Freeview.dat is up to date.
  • TopManager will change any affected timers.
Note: Not performed if the scan was performed outside of TopManager (or if MyStuff is running).
  • TopManager will update any .mei files (typically EPG.mei and/or RT2MEI.mei) that have a creation date within the last 14 days.
Note: Not performed if the scan was performed outside of TopManager.
What the new mechanism can't do:-
  • Reflect any changes in service times (you need to update Freeview.dat and select the  "Check/Update Files" button in "PcControl| Channel Management")
  • Update timers or .mei files when the channel change is as a result of a scan outside TopManager e.g. native, FastScanGUI or ChannelOrganiser. This is because there is insufficient information to ensure that the correct entries are updated.
